Saturnia is situated on a hill in the basin of Albegna, in the hinterland of the Maremma grossetana, , at about ninety km from Castiglione in Teverina, defined crib of the italic civilization: it rises on a thick of travertine in a occupied zone from the period of Villanoviana, from the XII century B.C., the Necropolis of the Puntone testifies the ancient pre-etruscan origins, with the graves of the VII century B.C. and the Etruscan and romans boundaries, here is located the notable Roman Door.
